1. How did you come up with the title?
My amazing agent actually came up with the title for me. She rocks!
2. Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
There are a few, but I’d say the biggest one is that no matter how strong of an individual you are, it’s okay to ask others for help.
3. How much of the book is realistic?
The emotions in the book are very realistic. While my main character is a necromancer, she’s still very human in her feelings and actions.
4. If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your book?
I wouldn’t change anything. I’m really happy with the end product. My editors were absolutely amazing.
5. What was the hardest part of writing your book?
I wrote the book in 14 days because my agent got requests before I wrote it, so initially it was the deadline looming over me. But once I got into the story, it pretty much flowed out of me and practically wrote itself.
6. Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?
Yes, I learned my characters are much smarter than I am. They made me stray from my planning more often than not, and I’m glad I listened to them.
7. Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
I’ve always loved books. Even as a child, bookstores were my favorite places, and I really wanted to be able to write books like the ones I grew up reading.
8. Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
I love Rick Riordan because he has a way with words that sucks you in from the first sentence and doesn’t let you go. He also writes great action scenes.
9. Tell us your latest news.
I recently signed a three-book deal with Month9Books for a YA series called INTO THE FIRE, which will release spring 2014 and features a group of Phoenixes.
10. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
I want to thank everyone for their interest in Touch of Death. The response has been more than I could’ve hoped for, and it means so much to me.
About the Book
Jodi Marshall isn’t sure how she went from normal teenager to walking disaster. One minute she’s in her junior year of high school, spending time with her amazing boyfriend and her best friend. The next she’s being stalked by some guy no one seems to know.
After the stranger, Alex, reveals himself, Jodi learns he’s not a normal teenager and neither is she. With a kiss that kills and a touch that brings the dead back to life, Jodi discovers she’s part of a branch of necromancers born under the 13th sign of the zodiac, Ophiuchus. A branch of necromancers that are descendents of Medusa. A branch of necromancers with poisoned blood writhing in their veins.
Jodi’s deadly to the living and even more deadly to the deceased. She has to leave her old, normal life behind before she hurts the people she loves. As if that isn’t difficult enough, Jodi discovers she’s the chosen one who has to save the rest of her kind from perishing at the hands of Hades. If she can’t figure out how to control her power, history will repeat itself, and her race will become extinct.
