1. How did you come up with the title?
My friend came up with the title over a glass of wine. I acknowledge her contribution at the beginning of the novel.
2. Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
The themes of the story are: Love comes when you aren’t looking for it and in order to get what you want you need to fight for it.
3. How much of the book is realistic?
Approximately 70 percent of the novel is real and 30 percent is fictional. The situations I created in the novel are based on my experiences throughout my life. The fantasy elements of the novel are purely fiction.
4. If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your book?
I would rewrite the ending but other than that I am quite pleased with the final product.
5. What was the hardest part of writing your book?
The hardest part is coming up with a hook. I struggle with those first few sentences.
6. Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?
During the course of writing this novel, I realized that I was still in love with my ex-boyfriend. I'm not right now and we have remained friends.
7. Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
My mother was an English teacher and an admirer of the written word. I wanted so much to be like her so I began to dabble in writing.
8. Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
William Shakespeare is my favourite author. His words are like the lyrics to a song that was beautifully written. I have this urge to dance whenever I read his work.
9. Tell us your latest news.
I am currently writing the sequel to The Tide Breaker. The working title is Red Tide. I am thinking of creating necklaces and bracelets that reflect each character's personality.
10. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
I welcome any feedback anyone might have and I hope you all enjoy the story.
